Terminal Power
What if the person you elected President or Prime Minister became ill and a sickness led to changes in his or her ability to carry out their duties, think clearly or act in our best interests? What if they were completely incapacitated and you werent informed about it?
What if a powerful world leader suffered from a mentally debilitating disease or, to treat an undiagnosed condition and manage the pain and the paranoia that goes with their position, they became addicted to dozens of psychologically and physically addictive drugs that only worsened their delusions?
What if all these are not speculations but real facts that have affected the leading dignitaries in human history till today?!
Terminal Power goes up close and extremely personal with the worlds most notable and notorious leaders. Well dispel wives tales and unfounded medical rumors, and also reveal secret and intimate details about the physiology and psychology of the people who shaped our history and control our destiny.
Well investigate how the world was brought to the brink of destruction repeatedly by leaders whose observations, judgment and abilities were diminished and impaired by physical and/or emotional problems. Well look into the reasons we imbue mortal men with super-human traits and ignore clear and present dangers that threaten both their lives and our own. Well delve into the relationship that exists between doctor and leader, and see why the conflict between their Hippocratic oath and their duty to inform the public brings about extremely different actions and reactions during times of duress.
Well examine how power and politics play a major role in the flow of information and see how both freely elected officials and autocratic dictatorships cope with crises caused by medical emergencies. Well also witness actual examples of leaders who refuse to admit to those around them and themselves that their failing health has rendered them ineffective or even insane.
Terminal Power will raise and reply to these and other questions that all speak to the larger theme and daunting dilemma: when and how much are we entitled to know about the state of the health of our leaders.
