Someone's Knocking At The Door

Director/Writer: Chad Ferrin
Cast: Vernon Wells, Noah Segan, Ezra Buzzington, Joseph Pilato
Runtime: 79 minutes
Year of Production: 2010
Country: United States
Language: English

A totally wild trip, SOMEONES KNOCKING AT THE DOOR is a cult horror movie sensation featuring over the top gore, depraved sexual acts, freaky dream sequences, and hysterical moments of humor. The plot may evoke classic 70s horror: a group of drug-taking students find themselves being brutally killed one by one by a pair of sex crazed serial killers on campus. But it’s in its execution where this film shines with originality: totally bizarre kills, whacked out hallucinations, hilarious dialogue between the cast led by Noah Segan (BRICK, DEADGIRL), plus a dark mystery slowly being uncovered, all set to the tunes of a kick-ass rock and roll soundtrack. SOMEONES KNOCKING is a refreshingly disturbing and funny horror movie that will blow your mind, but in a good way.

Fear House

Director/Writer: Michael Morris
Cast: Matthew Montgomery, Monique La Barr, Aleece Jones.
Runtime: 88 minutes
Year of Production: 2008
Country: United States
Language: English

Relatives and colleagues of reclusive writer Samantha Ballard track her to an isolated home in the California desert where they discover her some nine months later severely traumatized. She greets them with a grim announcement that they will die if they attempt to leave the house.

After Samantha's ex-husband and his girlfriend suffer horrible deaths while trying to escape, the others realize that she was serious. They begin to scheme a safe way out even as the malevolent force that rules the house stirs the worst fears of each of them, causing them to wonder: Can they escape the evil house before their fears kill them?

"Fear House" doesn't rely on over-the-top gore and blood special effects, but the psychological fear of what really scares us deep inside. While trapped in the house, each person meets their deepest fears head on and it's up to them on how to handle it as to whether they will survive or not. This film is part Phantasm, part Evil Dead and part Black Christmas. It's not what you see that terrorizes you, but your own sub-conscience is your enemy.

"Mom?"
Her doubtful voice spoken to the darkness.
A hall, in front of her. Pale moonlight, coming through a half-closed door, flooding the place in a milky glare.
"Mom?"
Her steps a light hum over the silence, not louder than the gentle whisper of her nightgown, cautiously.
A muffled noise, barely audible.
"Mom? Mom, are you there?"
The creak of a door.
