Secrets of Paradise
“Secrets of Paradise” is a 4x52’ documentary series that will show our audiences how an unknown corner of the world holds many clues to our own past. The series will demonstrate how threads of cultural and genetic evidence have gone hand in hand spanning the globe, linking people on opposite sides of the planet.
Using archaeological diggings, genetic proofs and legends, we will trace ancient immigration waves from India, Taiwan and the Americas into central Pacific where they combined to form a unique culture with almost unrecognisable origins.
We will focus on the group of islands of Hawai’i, New Zealand, Tahiti and Samoa. We will follow legends that will take us from one part of the Pacific to another part of the world.
HAWAII: to Canada and then back 6000 years to Taiwan
TAHITI: to Easter Island, Peru and then back 3500 years to india
NEW ZEALAND: to Rarotonga, Raiatea and Hawaii
SAMOA: to Vanuatu and then to Tonga and Fiji
In each episode we will focus on an islander who has a deep interest in his/her family lineage. We’ll follow a personal journey of discovery that will not only surprise our unfamiliar audience with this part of the world, but the protagonists themselves…
Customs, craftsmanship skills, food and medicinal plants that hint at a geographical origin outside of the Pacific will feature highly during the course of the series. The sea craft of each of these islands will be featured in re-enactments along with their techniques of navigation.
“Secrets of Paradise” will include interviews with world known archaeologists and geneticists, yet also with chiefs and elders. Our search for the origins of the Pacific people is guided by genetic and archaeological support that agrees with the islands’ history. The conclusions will be groundbreaking and controversial, as they may not agree with some commonly held beliefs on the colonization of the Pacific.
Each episode will be a visual extravaganza of beauty filled with action and adventure, showing the resourcefulness of humans in a natural environment. It will take us into the minds of these islanders demonstrating their knowledge, intelligence and pride of their own culture. But above all, “Secrets of Paradise” will answer many Secrets that have perplexed Europeans ever since they first set eyes on the people living on these idyllic isles in the Pacific.
