Duration: 20x46mins
It is two weeks before Lunar New Year, the most important festival of the Chinese calendar, where families gather for a reunion dinner to signify family bonding. But for three families who are plagued by feuds and marriage woes at a time of soaring costs, a happy reunion dinner may just not happen.
Compulsive gambler, Ah Chang (Chen Han Wei), was mistakenly arrested by the police for his wife's accident. His three children are left to fend for themselves as he is thrown into jail and his wife lies comatose in the hospital. The children are hopeful that their parents will come back in time on New Year Eve and set out to earn money for the reunion dinner.
Ah Ping (Chen Li Ping) is married to a wimpy man who draws a measly salary. She supplements the family income by selling home-made pastries. She also has to look after her dementia-stricken father-in-law, earning her the nickname of Iron Lady. But with her husband's recent job loss, escalating costs and a pregnant teenage daughter, Ah Ping finally loses it...
Banana (Kym Ng) works in a supermarket during the day and as a beer promoter by night as her lazy husband Da Xiong's (Alan Tern) food stall is not making money. To compete with younger beer promoters, Banana takes up swimming to build up her physique but Da Xiong mistakenly believes she is having an affair...
Will they all resolve their differences in time for the reunion dinner?
