This film deals with the powerful influence Italian migrants have exerted on the Australian way of life, its history and development. Italian migrants arrived on Australia’s shores since the days when the states were simply undeveloped bush colonies. Through the generations they have brought with them a rich pastiche of colourful lifestyles and traditions which have greatly enriched the social fabric and development of Australia.

The interviewees tell a wide range of stories of their past, and of their forebears who risked everything to establish themselves in another land. This is a powerful and sometimes emotional film; a story of hardships and struggle under difficult circumstances, a story of injustices, discrimination and determination, but in the end it is a film which clearly demonstrates an all enduring will to succeed.
