Horse Talk

Producer: Katie Hickson

Horse lovers around the world will enjoy this fun and informative series as Horse Talk TV brings the world a taste of ’down under' horsemanship.

Horse Talk TV is Australia’s award winning premier television show about horses. Since it began in late 2009 Horse Talk TV quickly became known for its quality and for the interesting and compelling programs that highlight the broad range of events, people, and of course, horses, that make up the contemporary Australian and international equine scene. It has been embraced by viewers in both Australia and overseas, winning the 2010 Antenna Award for Most Outstanding Information or Lifestyle Program.

Katie Hickson, the producer and host of Horse Talk TV, has 18 years experience in the horse industry as a professional horse trainer. With her team of enthusiastic reporters, Horse Talk TV brings viewers face to face with a variety of interesting horse stories and horse people.

The show covers all the high-profile horse sports from dressage to reining plus other, more unusual horse-related activities; like trick riding and liberty horses and for something completely different, a spot of jousting! There are also “Ask-the-Expert” segments where industry experts give viewers the latest on horse health, and showcase new products. Viewers also get regular educational horse care and training tips in Horse Talk TV’s “Tip of the Week” segment.

Some of the highlights from past series include meeting Olympic dressage stars Rachel Sanna & Heath Ryan at the Sydney CDI Dressage – Australia’s premier international dressage event and a key selection event for Olympic Games and World Equestrian Games. We took an exclusive behind the scenes look at leading USA trainers - Pat and Linda Parellis’ - sold out Australian clinics. Viewers got to meet the original “War Horse” in A-Troop, the oldest continuous WW1 light horse re-enactment regiment in Australia. We visited ‘Spike’ the equine star of the recently released Australian feature film ‘The Cup’ to see what a well-trained movie horse can do and we learned all about barefoot trimming with renowned barefoot farrier , Andrew Bowe.

Currently the Horse Talk team are working hard on the production of our new Series 3 of Horse Talk TV due for release in June 2012.
