Chennamma and Yelamma were stone-crushers. Kalavati and Zayda were house-maids. Illiterate and born into poverty, it didn;t seem that there could be light at the end of their tunnel. So they decided to make their own light. This is a powerful story about the empowerment of women by women. Called India's barefooted solar engineers, these women taught themselves how to make, install and maintain solar lamps in villages that have no street lighting. Watch how they get to this point where they break the cycle of poverty and take destiny into their own hands.
